Our Story

Why Williams Birmingham Exists

Two brothers from Birmingham. One frustrating problem.

We kept buying "quality" pieces. High street brands. Department store labels. They looked good on the hanger. They fell apart in real life.

Fabrics that pilled after three washes. Seams that unravelled within months. Buttons that popped. Colours that faded. Shoes that cracked. Knitwear that stretched into shapelessness.

We weren't asking for much. Just clothes that fit properly, felt good after a long day, and didn't need replacing every season.

So we spent months researching what actually makes garments last. Not marketing claims. Actual materials and construction.

Long-staple cotton. The fibres most brands won't pay for. Stronger. Softer. Gets better with every wash instead of worse.

Goodyear-welted shoes. Stitched, not glued. Resoleable for decades. The construction method fast fashion pretends doesn't exist.

Vegetable-tanned leather. Six months to produce what chrome tanning does in a day. Leather that develops character, not cracks.

Reinforced seams. Natural fibres. Hardware that doesn't tarnish. The details that used to be standard before disposable became the business model.

We found makers and workshops that still build this way. Weavers, tanners, and craftspeople who never abandoned proper construction just because shortcuts were cheaper.

We're not trying to compete with trend cycles. We're not dropping new collections every week. We're building a wardrobe that outlasts careers.

Our goal is simple: you buy once. You wear it for years. It gets better, not worse.

That's it.
